Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family are well. Your support is so inspiring and needed now more than ever. I cannot thank you enough for your dedication to CaringKind in the past and to our clients who rely on us. Can we count on you to make a donation this year?

Today, over 11 million Americans face the challenges of Alzheimer’s and related dementias. In New York alone, more than 400,000 individuals and their 546,000 caregivers are navigating this complex journey. Now, more than ever in our 45-year history, your support is critical in sustaining our promise of being a steadfast ally in the face of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Over 45 years ago our founders embraced our critical responsibility to be the CARE behind an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the TRUSTED PARTNER to families throughout their journey. From our humble beginnings when we made the promise to offer our family caregiver programs free of charge, we have not wavered for even one moment in that commitment; offering important programs and services free of charge and in multiple languages.

Because of this you knew that you could count on us to be here when you needed us most. And since that first moment of our founding, we have also not wavered in being the mission driven organization supporting the New York City Alzheimer’s community with 45 years of uninterrupted service.

We have expanded many of our programs including one of our newest signature offerings - our evidence-based, early-stage suite of programs offered in-person and virtually for those with early memory loss and mild cognitive impairment and their caregivers.

CaringKind has been a lifeline for tens of thousands of families, and I am delighted to share our progress this year:

  • Our Helpline staff of trained dementia care specialists fielded 6,700 calls from caregivers, persons with dementia, and those seeking information, referral, and guidance.
  • The network of 90 Support Groups is busier than ever, with groups held via telephone, conferencing, or in-person.
  • Our licensed Social Workers provided one-on-one and family consultations with more than 1,285 counseling sessions, helping caregivers better navigate the complex road ahead.
  • Our Connect2Culture® program has broadened its reach and extends across the country, virtually, while continuing to serve local communities with culturally sensitive programming, helping to reduce social isolation through engagement with the arts.
  • Our MedicAlert NYC Wanderer’s Safety Program® is busier than ever, providing a vital safety net to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia who wander and go missing.
  • Our Education Seminars have served over 780 care partners virtually, learning about Legal and Financial Planning, Medicaid Home Care, Introduction to Dementia, and a host of other topics.

The urgency to continue our life-changing work, which is more important than ever, is just beginning. More people are being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, more support groups are needed for families, additional programs are needed for those being diagnosed, and we are relentlessly trying to ensure there is not one individual impacted by the disease is left behind.

CaringKind relies on donations and support from people like you to keep our programs free of charge, and to be able to respond to new challenges from a growing population of those affected. Your tax-deductible contribution directly supports our community.

Please know that a gift at any level will have a healing impact on the caregiving families that we serve. However, gifts of $250, $500 or $1,000 are especially needed. CaringKind would not be here without you!

Your contribution today will ensure a brighter tomorrow for all of those who count us to be here each and every day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued partnership.

On behalf of CaringKind, I wish you a healthy, hopeful, peaceful and prosperous 2024, and thank you for supporting our work today and into the future.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh
President & CEO
